Amelia Lynch grew up on the Central Coast and has been doing ceramics since she was 14 years old. Recently completing her final year of MFA at the National Art School, she is heavily influenced by the flora and fauna of the Central Coast and the surrounding Australian Landscape as she works to incorporate different aspects of the colours, shapes, forms, and textures, into her work.
Her art practices explore her connection with the Australian landscape. She has a particular interest in the textural qualities of the micro and macro landscapes of the Central Coast and other lands she has visited.
The glazes on her work suggest the textures of eucalyptus bark, wattle flowers, concave roack pools, and the reflections of water in bush creeks, and yabbie exoskeletons. All of her glaze colours come from the native flora and fauna of Australia. Amelia seeks to replicate these patterns, forms, and colours through her use of craw, crackle, and matte glazes.
